Pune, November 09, 2024: A bus belonging to Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd. (PMPML) bus caught fire at Swargate depot earlier today. However the fire was extinguished and no major accident occurred due to alertness and timely intervention of PMPML employees and Pune Fire Brigade at the depot.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:43 AM when the bus’s front side suddenly caught fire. Upon receiving the emergency call, a fire engine from the Fire Headquarters was dispatched to the scene. Firefighters arrived quickly and assessed the situation. Upon finding the front section of the bus engulfed in flames they immediately began dousing the fire from all directions using water, successfully extinguishing the blaze within just ten minutes.
Despite the significant damage to the bus, the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and thankfully, there were no injuries reported. The prompt response from the fire brigade prevented any further damage and ensured the safety of depot workers and bystanders.

Fortunately, the fire safety training conducted by the Fire Brigade for PMPML employees earlier this year proved invaluable. During the incident, employees were able to use fire extinguishers effectively to control the fire in its early stages, preventing it from spreading further.
The fire brigade’s ongoing educational efforts, including lectures and demonstrations on fire safety and emergency procedures, were highlighted as key factors in the successful management of the fire. PMPML staff expressed their gratitude to the fire brigade for the life-saving training, acknowledging that it played a crucial role in minimizing the damage and averting a potential disaster.
