There are around 500 leopards roaming in Ambegaon, Junnar, Shirur, Khed talukas of Junnar forest division.
Around 500 leopards roam the Ambegaon, Junnar, Shirur, and Khed talukas of the Junnar forest division. The Otur Forest Division in Junnar Taluka and the Manchar Forest Division in Ambegaon Taluka have the maximum number of leopards. Leopards roam freely throughout the day, causing a major hinderance for farmers.
Therefore, there is a serious question for farmers whether to work in their fields or not, to let children play outside or not etc.
As a result of high population of leopards and to avoid man-animal conflict, many leopards are captured from inhabited areas, rescued and then released back in the wild, away from human habitation.
