Intelligent Traffic Management System
The Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) is a network of AI-enabled cameras that are strategically placed across the entire 95 kilometer length of the expressway to monitor traffic. There are total of 115 cameras fitted on 45 gantries and 50 poles. These are placed at every10 kilometers and are capable of detecting 17 types of traffic violations such as over speeding, lane cutting, using mobile phones while driving, not wearing seat belts etc. The smart cameras are capable of independently reading number plates of vehicles breaking traffic rules and provide input to the system that auto generates the challans to traffic offenders.
This AI-enabled intelligent traffic management system is monitored by RTO authorities through a central control room located in Lonavala.
