Pune: Hadapsar gliding center to be developed into world class gliding facility with an aviation museum
Pune, August 24, 2024: Hadapsar Gliding Center will be developed into a well-equipped, world-class facility with cutting edge technology for gliding and aviation enthusiasts along with an aviation museum.
Murlidhar Mohol, Pune MP and Mos for Civil Aviation and Co-operation announced that he has instructed officials to visit the Hadapsar Gliding Center to explore the possibilities of developing it into a world-class gliding hub along with an aviation museum.
He also discussed various pending issues with the officials of Airport Authority of India & the Ministry of Civil Aviation at Delhi, regarding handover of land to the gliding center.
About Hadapsar Gliding Center
Hadapsar Gliding Centre is also known as Gliding Centre Pune. It is a gliderdrome situated at Hadapsar in Pune, Maharashtra. It is owned by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and used by the Gliding Centre of the DGCA. The gliderdrome is spread over 230 acres. It consists of a one-km-long unpaved airstrip, two hangars housing the gliders that are used for daily flying exercises and an administrative block.
This gliding center offers glider rides to visitors at a nominal cost of Rs. 187 per flight that last a few minutes, giving the opportunity to visitors to fly like a bird and experience the aerial view of Pune. This center also provides certification courses for glider pilots which takes from two to twelve months. Currently there are four to five certified pilots who take the visitors for glider rides.
