Pune: Underground metro likely to start from Ganesh Chaturthi in September

Commuters may be able to seamlessly travel from Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to Swargate from Ganesh Chaturthi.

The underground metro section from Shivajinagar Civil Court to Swargate is likely to become operational from Ganesh Chaturthi this year, making all stations of Pune Metro operational.

The commuters will be able to visit Dagdusheth Ganpati temple, shop on Laxmi Road and carry out other business and activities in the vicinity of Swargate station with ease while travelling by the metro.

During the Ganesh festival, local residents and tourists will be able to travel by metro between Vanaz to Ramwadi and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to Swargate.

Ganesh Chaturthi is on September 7, and on this auspicious day, country’s second underwater metro connecting Civil Court to Swargate in Pune may become operational.

This metro line has been built 100 feet below the ground. Hence, Punekars are curious about this route.

The work of the metro station at Swargate is going on in full swing. After the starting of Vanaz to Ramwadi and Pimpri-Chinchwad to Swargate Pune metro routes, the metro will be available for passengers every few minutes.

Devotees can visit temples, shopping and cultural entertainment areas with ease using the services of metro. Since metro services are going to be started at full capacity, residents will not need to search for a parking lot to park their bikes or scooters.

Safe journey due to CCTV cameras 

The entire route will be under strict CCTV surveillance, especially for the safety of women, to ensure no one dares to harass or trouble them. The control room will be actively monitoring the entire journey and any such incident will be quickly dealt with, with the preparators prompty facing law enforcement agencies.

Cycle owners can travel in metro

As metro services will be fully operational on two routes i.e. Vanaz to Ramwadi and Pimpri Chinchwad to Swargate, bicycle owners will be able to travel by metro with their bicycles. It can benefit students, employees, and IT professionals. Hemant Sonwane, executive director of Maha Metro, said, “The Civil Court to Swargate underground metro route is likely to be operational in September i.e. on Ganesh Chaturthi. Accordingly, the work at metro stations is underway at full swing.”
