Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan unveiled the much-anticipated NIRF Rankings for Higher Education Institutes in New Delhi, marking a significant milestone in the assessment of academic institutions across the country. The rankings, based on the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) established by the Ministry of Education in 2015, provide a comprehensive evaluation of the performance and quality of higher education institutions (HEIs) in India.

Key Highlights of India Rankings 2024

• Employability Skills as a Key Parameter: Minister Pradhan emphasized the importance of employability skills in the rankings, highlighting that future assessments will prioritize this aspect. He stressed that skilling should become a fundamental criterion in evaluating institutions, as it plays a crucial role in the learning and development of students.
• Inclusion of All Higher Education Institutions: The Minister urged that all 58,000 HEIs in the country should be included under the ranking and rating framework. He stated that students and parents have the right to know the quality, performance, and strengths of academic institutions, which will help them make informed decisions.
• Introduction of Intangible Aspects: Pradhan also proposed incorporating intangible aspects of education, such as the overall learning environment and institutional culture, into the ranking framework, recognizing their powerful impact on student development.
