Mumbai: Authorities have announced the closure of cross runways at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, RWY 09/27 and RWY 14/32, on October 17, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, for its overall post-monsoon runway maintenance exercise to ensure continued safety and efficiency of its operations.

Being one of the most busy single-runway airports in the world, CSMIA is renowned for its safety services, and these cyclic maintenance measures are essential for sustaining international standards. The airport will be closed on October 17 to perform necessary repair and maintenance works necessary to align the infrastructure with global parameters.

A notice to Airmen (NOTAM), which provides notice that all relevant parties ahead of scheduled maintenance was issued six months in advance, in coordination with stakeholders, and the flight schedules were modified to avoid any disturbances and ensure smooth operations during this temporary shutdown of the runway.

During this short closure period, the management had requested passengers to cooperate and support them.
