Eight Killed in Tragic Nashik-Mumbai Highway Accident; CM Announces ₹5 Lakh Aid for Victims’ Families

Nashik, Maharashtra – A devastating collision on the Nashik-Mumbai Highway flyover on Sunday night resulted in the tragic loss of eight lives and left 13 others injured. The accident involved a tempo carrying iron rods and a goods vehicle, leading to severe damage and casualties.

The accident occurred around 8:00 PM near the Dwarka Chowk area when a tempo loaded with iron rods collided with a goods vehicle. The iron rods, which were unmarked with warning signs, spilled out of the tempo, fatally injuring passengers in the other vehicle. Four victims died on the spot, while others sustained critical injuries. Among the five injured, two remain in serious condition and are currently receiving treatment at the district hospital.

The victims, all residents of Nashik, were returning from a religious visit to Dharangav and hailed from the Sidco and Ambad areas. Many of them were related to one another, making the tragedy even more profound for the community.

In response to the incident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his condolences and announced a financial aid package for the victims’ families. Each family of the deceased will receive ₹5 lakh in assistance, while the government will cover all medical expenses for the injured.

State BJP President Ravindra Chavan also extended his sympathies, sharing a heartfelt tribute on social media, wishing for the speedy recovery of the injured and strength for the bereaved families.

The police have launched an investigation into the accident, focusing on the safety violations involving the unmarked iron rods, which were a significant factor in the severity of the crash.
