Pune/Hinjawadi: Jeweler resists and foils attempt to rob his shop
Pune: A jewellery shop owner resisted and foiled a robbery attempt by three men, one of them wielding a firearm, at his showroom on the busy Laxmi Chowk in Hinjewadi on Friday morning.
The robbers fled in a car with imitation jewelry worth Rs16,700. The jeweler sustained minor injuries as the robber carrying a firearm hit him with its grip.
A case of robbery under section 309 (6) (voluntarily causing hurt while committing robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered with the Hinjewadi police.
Sudhakar Patil (25), owner of Shivmudra Jewellers, said the robbers barged in and one of them threatened him with a firearm. He raised an alarm and chased them with a pair of scissors.
The police said they were looking for the robbers.
