Pune Metro Update: Civil Court to Swargate Stretch Inauguration and Bhoomi Pujan for Swargate to Katraj Section Together on the Same Day Soon, Mohol

Pune, September 03, 2024: Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Co-operation and Pune Lok Sabha MP, Murlidhar Mohol, has announced that work on Civil Court to Swargate underground line of Pune Metro is in its final stages and it will be operational very soon. The inauguration for this stretch will be done along with the Bhoomi Pujan for the Swargate to Katraj extension will be done on the same day.

The PCMC to Swargate metro line, also known as the Purple Line, is nearing completion with the Civil Court to Swargate stretch undergoing final safety inspections. Mohol recently conducted a review of the progress of work along with Mahametro Managing Director Mr. Shravan Hardikar and other Metro officials, Parvati MLA Madhuri Tai Misal was also present during the review inspection.

Mohol said, “After the completion of some architectural works and obtaining the necessary technical permissions, the underground metro line from Civil Court to Swargate will be ready for public service within the next few days. Mahametro is working at a rapid pace to address the remaining tasks.”

There are three stations in the Civil Court to Swargate stretch which extends to 6 kilometers, namely, Kasba Peth, Mandai, and Swargate, all of which have been completed. The process of renaming some stations has also been finalized, with the official gazette notification expected soon.

Additionally Vanaz to Chandani Chowk and Ramwadi to Wagholi extensions are also in the pipeline and the work on these stretches will begin as soon as necessary approvals are obtained.

On the other hand, the work in Hinjawadi to Shavajinagar metro line is also moving at a fast pace and it is anticipated to begin operations by March 2025. Once this stretch is completed, the citizens residing in Hinjawadi, Balewadi, Baner, Aundh etc will also have seamless access to Pune metro network.
