For the first time in history, a Maruti Suzuki car has achieved a 5-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test. The model that has achieved this important milestone is the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which reflects the company’s new approach to car safety.

The fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which will be launched in India on November 11, 2024, has scored a five-star rating in the adult passenger safety category and a four-star rating in the child passenger safety category. This is a significant achievement for Maruti Suzuki, as it has always followed Indian safety standards but has generally not performed well in global safety assessments.

Key Safety Features of the 2024 Dzire

Maruti Suzuki has placed special focus on the issue of safety in its cars in 2024, and the Dzire is a prime example of this new direction. The 2024 Dzire has a comprehensive safety feature package, making it one of the safest Maruti Suzuki cars ever.

  • Six airbags
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • Pedestrian protection
  • Hill Hold Assist
  • ABS with EBD and Brake Assist
  • Three-point seatbelts for all seats
  • Rear defogger
  • Isofix mounts for child seats

All these features are standard across all variants of the 2024 Dzire, ensuring that safety is a priority for all passengers. Maruti Suzuki has used 45% high-tensile steel in the car’s structure, which is based on the fifth-generation Heartect platform, which enhances the vehicle’s rigidity and crash safety.

Strong Safety Test Performance

In terms of crash tests, the 2024 Dzire scored 31.24 out of 34 points in the adult safety category and 39.20 out of 49 points in the child safety category. Global NCAP praised the Dzire’s structure and the stability of the footwell area, stating that the car performed excellently in side-impact and pole tests. The frontal crash test provided marginal protection to the driver’s chest, but the car provided full protection in the side impact and pole tests.

Engine and Features

The 2024 Dzire is powered by the Z12E 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 81.58PS and a peak torque of 111.7Nm. This engine is also used in the 2024 Swift and is available with 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT transmission options.

The Dzire is also loaded with modern features designed for convenience and luxury, including:

  • LED Crystal Vision headlamps with LED DRLs
  • LED rear combination lamps
  • 15-inch alloy wheels
  • 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • 360-degree camera
  • Automatic AC, cruise control, and an electric sunroof

Additionally, it also gets premium features like a shark fin antenna, boot lid spoiler, rear AC vents, rear armrest, and Suzuki Connect.

Pricing and Competition

The new Dzire is expected to be priced between Rs 6.99 lakh and Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete directly with rivals like the Hyundai Aura, Honda Amaze, and Tata Tigor, offering a great mix of safety, features, and value.

Finally, the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire has raised the bar for safety in its segment and could prove to be a turning point for the brand, making it a safe and attractive option for Indian consumers.
