Mumbai, November 15, 2024: The Maharashtra government has declared a statewide public holiday for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. This public holiday will be applicable on the polling day on November 20, 2024, as mentioned in the order issued by the state government.

Public Holiday for Government Offices and Banks

According to the government notification, all government offices, semi-government offices, corporations, banks, boards and related organizations will remain closed on November 20 (Wednesday) on the occasion of Maharashtra Assembly General Election. This means that the employees of government and semi-government offices will get a holiday on this day.

Are Banks Closed on November 20, 2024?

According to the government order, in-person banking services will not be available in banks on November 20, i.e. banks will remain closed. However, there will be no interruption of any kind in online banking services and ATM transactions, and customers can access their accounts through these channels.

Impact on Central Government and Public Enterprises

This public holiday will also apply to central government offices, semi-government offices, PSUs and related entities. All government departments, subdivisions and other entities will observe a holiday on the polling day.

Election Day Details

The 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on November 20, 2024, in which voters across the state will cast their votes for the 288-member assembly. The results of the election will be declared on November 23, 2024.

This public holiday has been declared to promote participation in voting and ensure smooth functioning of government and semi-government offices during the election period.
