Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s return to Delhi was delayed on Friday due to a technical fault in his plane at Jharkhand’s Deoghar airport. According to officials, the plane was grounded for technical checks and an alternate plane was arranged to take PM Modi to Delhi.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi addressed two rallies on the occasion of Tribal Pride Day in Jharkhand. The day is celebrated in honor of tribal hero Birsa Munda. The event took place a few days before the second phase of polling in the Jharkhand assembly elections, which is scheduled for November 20.

PM Modi was at the Deogarh Airport in Jharkhand for over an hour while officials discussed an alternate arrangement. As a result of his unexpected delay, the region’s air space was declared a ‘no fly zone’. Consequently, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s helicopter was also stopped for about two hours in Mahagama, Jharkhand. The Congress has accused it of “deliberate obstruction” and called it a political conspiracy.

According to sources, the reason for the delay in allowing Rahul Gandhi’s helicopter to fly was PM Modi’s election rally in Jamui, Bihar, due to which restrictions were imposed in the airspace. Congress leaders called this delay a politically motivated move.

Experts believe that in this election season, there may be sharp rhetoric between the two parties over such arrangements in the airspace.
