See Two Sunrises in Qantas’ Longest Non-Stop Flights from Sydney to London & New York in 2026
Australian airline Qantas has announced that it will launch the world’s longest non-stop flights in 2026. These flights will connect Sydney directly to London and New York, and passengers will get the unique experience of seeing two sunrises during a long journey of 19 to 22 hours. This plan has been named ‘Project Sunrise’, which marks the beginning of a new era, where long journeys can be completed more conveniently and in less time.
New journey, new experience
The aim of Project Sunrise is not only to overcome the flight distance, but also to save time for passengers. Currently, one-stop flights from Sydney to London and New York take more than 24 hours, but this new non-stop service of Qantas will reduce these times by up to 4 hours. This will make the journey more time-efficient.
Flying with state-of-the-art Airbus A350-1000s
As part of Project Sunrise, Qantas has decided to purchase 12 dedicated Airbus A350-1000 aircraft. These aircraft are specially designed for long-haul flights, with additional fuel tanks and advanced technology to make long-haul flights safer and more comfortable. The aircraft will have a total of 238 seats, including 6 First Class suites, 52 Business Class suites, 40 Premium Economy seats and 140 Economy seats. These seats are designed to provide passengers with a more comfortable experience during long-haul flights.
The unique experience of seeing two sunrises
Project Sunrise will give passengers an extraordinary experience—seeing two sunrises. This will be possible due to the route and timing of the aircraft, while traveling on the plane for a long time. As a Qantas spokesperson said this opportunity is unique in our history, this experience will be unforgettable for passengers, and will take travel in a new kind of exciting and surprising direction.
Qantas wants to ensure that passengers do not face any discomfort during the long flight. The aircraft will also have a ‘Wellbeing Zone’, where passengers will get healthy food to relax, do light exercises and refresh themselves. This zone will be located between economy and premium economy and aims to help passengers reduce fatigue and give peace of mind.
Launch in 2026, the beginning of a new journey
Project Sunrise is expected to be launched in 2026, although it was earlier scheduled to start in 2022, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now Qantas is fully prepared for this project and will give passengers a new opportunity to connect directly to major cities of the world through these special non-stop flights.
This move of Qantas will not only reduce travel time but will also set a new benchmark for long-haul flights. Vanessa Hudson stated that Australians are eager for comfort, and that Project Sunrise is the answer.
Qantas’ Project Sunrise is not only a big step towards starting the world’s longest non-stop flights, but it also signals a new thinking and change in the airline industry. These steps taken to bring the passenger experience to the highest level will not only enhance the reputation of Qantas but will also give a new direction to the future of airline travel.
