Pune: Dastkari Haat Samiti to Organize ‘Grand Craft Bazaar’ From Nov 26 to Dec 02; See Details
Pune, November 20, 2024: Dastkari Haat Samiti, a leading platform celebrating India’s rich art heritage, is celebrating its tenth anniversary with its much-awaited Craft Bazaar in Pune.
The event will be held from 26th November to 2nd December 2024 at Dutch Palace, 16 Bund Garden Road, Opposite Residency Club and Inox Theatre, Pune. Visitors can enjoy the bazaar from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm on each day and take in the amazing display of various crafts from across India.
This year’s bazaar will present a spectacular display of Indian craftsmanship, with around 110 stalls from 20 states. Many crafts will be showcased for the first time in Pune and innovations brought about by the Samiti in collaboration with the artisans. The event will include silk rug weaving and crewel embroidery from Kashmir, clay-mirror work and leather craft from Gujarat, silver jewellery from Rajasthan, banana fibre items from Karnataka, and many more. Other attractions include terracotta from Gujarat and Odisha, kavad art from Rajasthan, glazed pottery from New Delhi, and iron crafts from Chhattisgarh.
For design lovers, this year’s bazaar will showcase fabrics such as Bandhani, Ikkat, Chanderi, and Banarasi prints, which are useful not only for textiles but also for architecture and interiors. The event will present a curated collection for architects and interior designers, showcasing the possibilities of using these crafts in their design projects. Also, public workshops from November 27 to December 1 will give visitors an opportunity to try their hands on traditional crafts such as Madhubani paintings from Bihar, Patachitra art from Odisha, Warli paintings from Maharashtra and Gond paintings from Madhya Pradesh.

In a new initiative, Dastkari Haat Samiti is also introducing video shopping, allowing craft lovers outside Pune to view and purchase select items online. The shopping information for this video is available on the committee’s Instagram handle “dastkari_haat”.
