Pune MP and Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol met Union Minister for Railways, Information, and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi to discuss critical issues impacting Pune and Western Maharashtra. During the meeting, Mohol emphasized the need for enhanced rail connectivity and modernized broadcasting facilities for the region.
Among the key demands presented were the introduction of a Vande Bharat sleeper train between Pune and Delhi, as well as the launch of Vande Bharat Metro services on intra-state routes, including Pune-Solapur, Pune-Nashik, and Pune-Kolhapur, to boost regional connectivity. Mohol also urged an increase in the frequency of trains between Pune and Jodhpur, citing high passenger demand.
On broadcasting, Mohol pressed for the modernization of Pune Akashvani with advanced technology and the immediate filling of vacant posts in its program division. He strongly advocated for enabling local broadcasts of Pune Akashvani and Vividh Bharti from Pune instead of Mumbai, as well as the launch of a dedicated “Rainbow” radio channel for the city.
He also highlighted the importance of upgrading the Pune Doordarshan centre to improve regional television broadcasting.
Following the discussions, Vaishnaw assured Mohol of his commitment to these developmental goals. He directed officials to take necessary steps for their implementation.
Sharing the updates on his X handle, Mohol expressed optimism about the outcomes, noting that the minister had taken serious cognizance of the demands and issued appropriate instructions to expedite the process.
These efforts are expected to significantly bolster Pune’s connectivity and media presence, enhancing its role as a key hub in Maharashtra.
