Hit-and-Run Claims Policeman’s Life in Bopodi
Late last night, tragedy struck near the Harris Bridge on the old Pune-Mumbai highway in Bopodi area, as a speeding four-wheeler struck two beat marshals from the Khadki police station. Policeman Samadhan Koli lost his life on the spot due to the impact, while his colleague, Sanjog Shinde, sustained serious injuries. Shinde was rushed to Ruby Hall Clinic, where he remains under treatment.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene immediately after the incident. Senior police officials are closely monitoring Shinde’s recovery, and teams from the Crime Branch are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the suspect involved in this heinous hit-and-run.
Journalist Killed in Tragic Incident at Decathlon Wakad
In a separate incident in Pimpri Chinchwad, tragedy struck as journalist Sharad Vasant Gaikwad, 42, lost his life in a road accident. Gaikwad, a resident of Chinchwad and an esteemed journalist with Live 24 Bulletin channel, was crossing the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway’s Katraj-Dehu Road Bypass section with his wife when a truck, traveling from Mumbai, fatally struck him.
The impact resulted in Gaikwad’s immediate demise, while his wife sustained serious injuries. The driver of the truck has been apprehended by authorities, as reported by Senior Police Inspector Nivrutti Kolhatkar of the Wakad Police Station.
These tragic incidents have highlighted the urgent need for road safety measures and stricter enforcement to prevent such accidents in Pune and its surrounding areas.
