Two passengers on an Air India flight from Copenhagen to Delhi engaged in a heated altercation over armrest space in the economy class on Sunday. The incident occurred on AI 158, a Boeing 787-8 flight, as it approached Indira Gandhi International Airport at approximately 7:35 a.m.

According to sources, the disagreement began while the cabin crew was serving food and beverages. The dispute escalated into a verbal confrontation, prompting the crew to intervene and relocate one of the passengers to another seat.

A Tense Landing

Despite the crew’s efforts, the situation reignited when the aircraft was about to land. One passenger returned to his original seat to retrieve baggage, leading to an exchange of blow between the two passengers. The cabin crew intervened once again to diffuse the tension.

The Air India official confirmed that the matter was resolved amicably, stating, “There was an argument between the two passengers over some issue but it was resolved amicably. They even shook hands before leaving the airport.”

Previous Incident on Air India Flights

This incident follows another reported altercation last month, when a 60-year-old passenger on an Air India Express flight from Dubai to Lucknow accused the cabin crew of misconduct. The woman claimed she was physically assaulted and denied basic facilities, raising questions about passenger relations on Air India flights.

Air India has not issued an official statement regarding the armrest dispute but emphasized the importance of maintaining order and safety during flights.
