Hyderabad Tops OYO Bookings in 2024; Spiritual Destinations Like Puri, Varanasi Shine
Hyderabad has emerged as the most-booked city for OYO rooms in 2024, as per OYO’s annual report, Travelopedia 2024, released on December 24. Following closely are Bengaluru, Delhi, and Kolkata, solidifying their positions as top urban travel destinations.
In the state rankings, Uttar Pradesh dominated, attracting a high volume of both leisure and business travelers. Among spiritual destinations, Puri, Varanasi, and Haridwar topped the charts, showcasing the continued popularity of religious tourism in India.
Interestingly, cities such as Patna, Rajahmundry, and Hubli witnessed notable growth in OYO bookings, with increases of up to 48%. Classic leisure hubs like Jaipur, Goa, Pondicherry, and Mysore remained popular choices for vacationers. On the flip side, Mumbai saw a dip in bookings, with many travelers opting for nearby getaways instead.
OYO, founded in 2012, has carved a niche for itself in the affordable hospitality sector, catering to a diverse range of travelers across India and beyond. However, the report also sheds light on a concerning trend: a rise in risky behavior among teens using OYO rooms. This includes casual relationships and actions that may detract from their focus on studies and career aspirations.
The findings from Travelopedia 2024 not only offer insights into travel preferences but also highlight evolving societal challenges, sparking conversations about responsible behavior among the younger generation.
