In a devastating incident, a roadways bus plunged into a 1,500-feet-deep gorge in the Bhimtal area of Nainital district, Uttarakhand, on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. The tragic accident left four people dead and at least 21 injured, with rescue operations continuing. The driver lost control, and it fell into a deep gorge… The injured have been rescued with the help of locals. 21 people have been injured and 4 people have died.”

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, terming it “heart-rending.” The Chief Minister directed the local administration to prioritize relief and rescue operations. He also announced ex-gratia payments to support the victims and their families.

    • ₹10 lakh for the families of the deceased.
    • ₹3 lakh for individuals with serious injuries.
    • ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 for those with minor injuries.

In a heartfelt message, CM Dhami stated, “I pray to Baba Kedar for the safety of all the travelers and for the speedy recovery of the injured.” His office also confirmed ongoing efforts to provide necessary assistance to the affected families.
