Indian Railways to Introduce New Time Table from January 01

Indian Railways will release new train timetable from 1st January 2025. The existing timetable will remain effective till December 31, 2024. This new schedule will be introduced as the 44th edition of ‘Trains at a Glance’ (TAG). Last year, the TAG timetable was implemented on October 1. It is also available on the official Indian Railways website.

Main Features of New Timetable
The Ministry of Railways has planned to introduce several new services in 2025 for the convenience of passengers and better operations. These include:

  • Namo Bharat Rapid Rail (Vande Metro) – For fast and economical travel in urban areas.
  • Operation of 136 Vande Bharat Express trains – These trains are known for convenience and time saving in long distance travel.
  • Two Amrit Bharat Express trains – for a high quality travel experience.

What is ‘Trains at a Glance’ (TAG)?
‘TAG’ is the official timetable of Indian Railways, which is updated every year for passengers. It includes the following information:

  • Train route map and station index.
  • Train information between important stations.
  • Passenger-interest information like reservation period, online booking, Tatkal scheme, refund policy, and ticket discounts.

Preparations for Mahakumbh Mela 2025
Keeping in mind the convenience of lakhs of devotees during Mahakumbh Mela 2025, Indian Railways has planned to operate more than 3,000 special fare trains. Besides:

  • Mahakumbh Village: It is a luxurious tent city located near Triveni Sangam, which will provide accommodation for more than 1,00,000 people.
  • Online Booking: Booking for stay at Mahakumbh Village between 10th January to 28th February can be done through IRCTC website and Mahakumbh App.

This new timetable of Indian Railways is a big step towards making the journey of passengers more convenient and efficient. The upcoming services and the preparations made for the Mahakumbh Mela are proof that Indian Railways gives top priority to the needs of its passengers.
