The Phase-1 of Pune Metro, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has shown promising ridership statistics, demonstrating its success as a major transport service for Punekars. To further enhance coverage, an extension of Phase-1 from Swargate to Katraj is proposed and will commence soon after receiving approval from the Central Government.

Phase-II corridors, including Vanaz-Chandani Chowk, Ramwadi-Wagholi, SNDT-Manik Baug, and Hadapsar-Loni Kalbhor, are also under consideration. These projects are expected to start post-approval by the competent authorities.

Mohol also emphasized the need for improving ‘Last Mile Connectivity’ to enable maximum citizens to access Pune Metro through feeder buses and other means. He expressed confidence that, given the progress so far and the future developments, Pune Metro would continue to enhance the ‘Ease of Life’ for Punekars.

For unified decision-making, Maha Metro’s MD Shravan Hardikar, Pune’s Divisional Commissioner Chandrakant Pulkondwar, PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh, and PMC Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale were present during the review.
