Pune: First Phase of University Circle Flyover to Open by April, Main Ramps Ready Before Monsoon
Pune, January 19, 2024: The long-awaited multi-level flyover project at Pune University Junction is set to achieve a major milestone, with the first phase of the project expected to be completed by April. This includes the ramp and roads connecting Bremen Circle to Agriculture College.
MLA Siddharth Shirole, who conducted an on-site review of the project along with representatives from Tata (contractor), PMRDA, PMC, and Pune City Traffic Police, confirmed the revised timelines. In addition, the two main ramps connecting Aundh and Baner to Ganeshkhind Road are anticipated to be operational before the monsoon season.
Speaking about the progress, Shirole acknowledged the delays caused by construction complexities and traffic adjustments but expressed confidence in the new deadlines. “The contractors have assured us that these deadlines are final, and we will see significant relief from the traffic congestion caused by this construction,” he stated.
The PMC and PMRDA have committed to addressing key road issues, including clearing debris, aligning barricades, and ensuring pothole-free roads in the affected areas. Enhanced traffic management, with increased police presence, has also been promised by the DCP of Pune Traffic.
The multi-level flyover project is expected to significantly ease traffic at this critical entry point to Pune city, providing smoother connectivity for commuters from key areas like Aundh, Baner, and Bremen Circle.
