Pune News: Complaint filed against owners of Vrindavan Society after gate collapse tragically takes life of 3.5 year old
A complaint has been filed against the owners of Vrindavan Society following the tragic death of three-and-a-half-year-old Girija Ganesh Shinde, who died after an iron gate fell on her. The incident occurred in Ganesh Nagar, Lane No. 2, Bopkhel.
On Thursday, August 1, four children were playing near the gate of Vrindavan Society. While two of them went inside the gate, Girija and her friend remained outside. The two girls initially moved away from the gate but later ran back towards it. At that moment, the children inside pulled the gate, causing it to slide forward. As the gate did not have a stopper, after sliding full length, it came off its rail and fell directly on Girija, resulting in severe injuries leading to her immediate death.
Girija’s grieving father, Ganesh Shinde, filed a complaint at the Dighi police station, demanding action against the owners of Vrindavan Society. The police have registered a case against the owner, Srinivasulu Sandhiredi, and his mother. The charge cites negligence due to the lack of a safety stopper on the iron gate, which is believed to have contributed to the fatal accident.
The accused have not been arrested as of now. The investigation is ongoing, and further actions are expected as more details emerge. The community is in shock, and this tragic event underscores the importance of ensuring safety protocols to ensure the well-being of children and residents in housing societies.
