Jog Falls in Karnataka Roar Back to Life After Discharge from Linganamakki Dam
Following heavy rains in Karnataka, water was released from Linganamakki reservoir into Sharavati river, causing Jog Falls to spring back to life, presenting a magnificent sight.
Jog Falls gained vigor and sprung back to life after the crest gates of the Linganamakki dam were opened to release excess water on August 1.
The irrigation authorities released 10,000 cusecs of water from the dam following heavy rains in Karnataka.
Scores of people were seen enjoying the majestic view of the falls at Jog where the Shravati river plunges from a height of 830 feet. As the water falls, it raises a screen of mist that hides the falls behind its white shroud. The visitors then wait for wind to clear the mist for a view of Jog Falls.
This magnificent waterfall is getting a lot of attention recently. This is because many spectacular videos of the Jog Falls are trending on social media and the falls are being compared to Niagara Falls in North America.
