Pune: PMC and PCMC release helplines for potholes reporting, seek citizen participation

In the aftermath of heavy rains, the roads in Pune within the jurisdictions of both PMC and PCMC, have turned into a mess with numerous potholes making driving hazardous.

There has been a lot of public outcry over the issue of potholes across the city and both the municipal corporations have been at the receiving end of public’s frustration and anger.

Responding to criticism and public outcry, both corporations swung into action and starting filling potholes. Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) claims that it has filled 1,224 potholes between August 3 and August 5 in the city while patchwork has been done for 153 potholes.

Meanwhile Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has not released any statistics about the situation of potholes and their solution in areas under their jusrisdiction.

However, both the corporations have released guidelines on how citizens can report potholes to the respective civic bodies for resolution.

PMC Helpline for Reporting Potholes

To ensure timely action, citizens are requested to report the issue of potholes to the Road Department via helpline numbers 020-25501083 and 9043271003 (WhatsApp).

PCMC Helpline for Reporting Potholes

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh has appealed to residents to report potholes through the PCMC Smart Sarathi app. Singh shared a video on X (Twitter) explaining the simple process for reporting grievances related to potholes.

In the video, Commissioner Singh requested residents to actively participate in making the city’s roads smoother and safer. “Report potholes on PCMC roads. Simply download the PCMC Smart Sarathi app, go to the Report Grievances section, upload a photo of the pothole, share the details and address, and the corporation will ensure action to repair the potholes,” he said.
