CCTV captures theft in broad daylight in Kalyani Nagar; car window smashed and valuables stolen
Pune: A shocking case of car theft has come to light where the suspect broke the window of a parked car on a busy road outside a hotel in Kalyani Nagar at 7 pm and walked off with a laptop, mobile phone and jewelry stolen from the car.
An FIR has been lodged by the victim who works as a manager in HDFC bank, Ahmednagar. He was in city and decided to eat something before heading back to Ahmednagar. He was accompanied by his friend and they went to a hotel in Kalyani Nagar area and parked the vehicle outside in the parking lot.
While they were having food, a hotel staff informed that their car window on the right side seemed to be broken by someone. The complainant rushed to the car and found that his rear car window was broken and a few items were missing.
The victim lodged an FIR at Yerawada police station. A laptop, a gold chain with a pendant, and a mobile handset worth Rs 2,50,000 have gone missing from the car, stated the FIR.
The incident happened between 7.00 pm to 7.20 pm on Saturday, August 10 in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area. In the CCTV footage, a man is seen smashing the window of a parked car outside a hotel in Kalyani Nagar on a busy street. There are people all around and the security guard of the hotel is also seen nearby. The thief breaks the window of the car and then walks around casually. A few moments later, he returns and finishes breaking the rest of the window and picks up stuff from the rear seat of the car and walks away casually across the road.
