Attempt to enter Pune airport and travel on a fake ticket to Lucknow foiled, one arrested

The Pune police arrested a man for using a forged airline ticket to enter Pune Airport. The suspect was trying to board a flight to Lucknow along with his father, who had a valid ticket.

Pune: The city police arrested a 27-year-old man on Sunday for allegedly using a forged airline ticket to enter Pune International Airport. According to police reports, the accused was attempting to board a flight to Lucknow along with his father, who had a valid ticket.

The suspect who was identified as 27-year-old Salim Golekhan, obtained the ticket of a private airlines from his friend Nasruddin Khan, based in Uttar Pradesh, as per the preliminary investigation, as per the PTI.

An FIR was filed at the Vimantal police station against the accused, identified as Saleem Golekhan, a resident of Mohan Nagar in Chinchwad, who is originally from Uttar Pradesh. The police also booked a ticketing agent, identified as Naseeruddin Khan, a resident of Shravasti in Uttar Pradesh, according to an Indian Express report.

“Initial probe suggests that Saleem’s father had come to Pune and had booked a return flight ticket to Lucknow for early Sunday morning. Saleem, who had gone to drop him at the airport, used a fake airline ticket to enter the airport. This fake ticket had a PNR number. But at the airline counter, the staff found out that it was fake and Saleem was handed over to the airport authorities. The officials at the airport contacted us and we placed him under arrest.” said Senior Inspector Ajay Sankeshwari of the Vimantal police station.
