Pune: Bar Where Teen Drank Before Running Over 2 Techies With Porsche Sealed, bar managers arrested
The bar and the pub where the teen had been drinking before killing two with his Porsche car have been sealed.
This action comes a day after the police filed a case against the bar; CCTV footage from inside the establishment confirmed that alcohol was served to the boy and his friends.
Pune officials have sealed a city bar that served alcohol to a 17-year-old boy and his friends early Monday morning, after which the drunk teen drove and rammed a high-performance Porsche sports car into a bike carrying two people, killing both. The legal drinking age in Maharashtra is 25, so it was illegal for the bar to serve liquor to the boy and his friends.
Hours after the horrific incident, which the family of Aneesh Awadhiya, who was driving the two-wheeler, have claimed it was a “murder,” the 17-year-old, the son of a prominent city-based realtor, was granted bail.
Even more shocking was one of the judge’s conditions: write a 300-word essay on road safety.
The action against the bar comes a day after the police filed a case against it; CCTV footage from inside the establishment confirmed that the boy and his friends were served liquor.
The boy’s father, who is also charged with a crime, was arrested hours before.
The boy’s father and the pub, named Cosie, are facing charges under Sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act for neglecting minors and supplying them with liquor or narcotics.

The case, which has sparked political and civil society outrage, particularly over how quickly bail was granted and the ridiculous terms imposed, has been assigned to Pune Police’s Crime Branch.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis spoke with Pune Police Commissioner and later told reporters that the police would take all necessary action in this case and against drunk driving in general.
He also stated that the authorities had filed an appeal against the boy’s bail order in a district court. “The Juvenile Justice Board was lenient…the accused’s crime is heinous,” the Deputy Chief Minister stated.
According to witnesses, the accident occurred at 2.15 a.m. The speeding Porsche, reportedly traveling at 200 km/h, rammed the bike driven by Mr Awadhiya and carrying Ashwini Costa, both 24 years old.

According to witnesses, Ms Costa was thrown 20 feet in the air and Mr Awadhiya landed on a parked car.
Ms Costa’s family has demanded that the boy’s bail be cancelled. Her uncles, Jugal Kishore and Sachin Bokde, stated, “We are shocked. It is unacceptable that he was granted bail in 15 hours. He and his parents should be investigated… because of him, an innocent girl who had never seen anything in her life died.”
Following the collision with the bike, the car hit the pavement and came to a stop.
“The accident occurred around 2:15 a.m. The car was going full speed. The driver fled after the car hit the bike, but the airbags deployed. He couldn’t see the road so he parked the car. And locals apprehended them. Aside from the driver, the car had two occupants. One of them escaped. “The crowd beat up the other two,” said an eyewitness, an auto-rickshaw driver waiting for a ride.
Meanwhile, in response to the boy’s bail, the police have filed an application to try him as an adult.
This decision is based on the belief that the gravity of the crime requires more stringent judicial scrutiny. “We’ve taken yesterday’s incident seriously. We acted under Section 304 of the IPC (Indian Penal Code), which is a non-bailable section because the crime was heinous,” Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar stated.
A special court today remanded owner of Cosie and manager of Blak Club at Marriot Suites where the minor driver was served liquor have been remanded to police custody till May 24.
