Accident on Mumbai Pune Expressway: Bus-truck collision leaves many injured
Mumbai/Pune, November 09, 2024: A tragic accident took place on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway near Khopoli in Raidgad district earlier today, involving a collision between a private bus and a truck leaving many injured.
The police said the bus, belonging to a private operator, was traveling from Kolhapur to Mumbai when it rammed into a stationary truck at about 4 am in the morning. Apparently the bus driver lost control of the bus.
According to reports, 16-18 passengers were injured, eight of them seriously, in the accident. They were rushed to the MGM Hospital at Kamothe in Raigad district, said a police official, adding that the condition of eight of them, including four women, is said to be critical.
The movement of vehicles was affected as a result of the accident on the Mumbai-bound carriageway of the expressway but the authorities quickly cleared the obstructions, resulting in smooth flow of traffic thereafter.
The Khopoli police are investigating the accident, according to the official.
