Summer is at its peak across the whole country. During daytime, the sun shines brightly and makes it unbearable to be out in the sun even for a few minutes.

However, the show must go on, and people have to travel on their two wheelers for work and other activities even under the harsh sun. The problem gets worse when, while riding a two wheeler, one has to stop at a traffic signal in the sun.

Pondicherry administration has come up with an innovative idea to protect its citizens from the harsh sun at traffic signals. They have installed temporary green screens to provide shade for its citizens, waiting at the signals.

These shades not only protect divers, especially two-wheeler riders from the harsh sun, but also help in reducing temperature around the signals to make waiting more bearable. It is worth noting that at traffic signals, not only the sun contributes to high temperatures, but also the engines of the waiting vehicles and the air conditioners of the cars make the heat unbearable.
