In the vibrant streets of Mumbai, where millions hustle daily to make a living, one man’s extraordinary story stands out—Bharat Jain, often called the world’s richest beggar. With a fortune estimated at ₹7.5 crore, Jain has redefined what it means to live on the streets, blending persistence, opportunity, and smart financial choices.

For over four decades, Bharat Jain has earned his primary income through begging. Spending 10 to 12 hours daily in high-traffic areas like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Azad Maidan, his earnings range between ₹2,000 and ₹2,500 per day, amounting to a monthly income of ₹60,000 to ₹75,000.

Despite his unconventional profession, Jain’s financial acumen has led him to invest in real estate. He owns two flats in Mumbai worth ₹1.4 crore and rents out two shops in Thane, which bring in an additional ₹30,000 monthly. These investments have enabled him to secure his family’s financial future, even as he continues his unique lifestyle.

Bharat’s family, which includes his wife, two sons, father, and brother, has benefited from his wealth. His sons, who were educated in a reputed convent school, now manage a stationery shop that supplements the family’s income. However, not everyone in the family approves of Bharat’s decision to continue begging. Yet, he remains steadfast, stating, “I enjoy begging, and I don’t want to give it up.”

Jain’s generosity is another striking facet of his character. In interviews, he has shared how he frequently donates money to temples and those in need, stating, “I’m not greedy. I’m generous.”

India’s begging industry, valued at a staggering ₹1.5 lakh crore, is home to other wealthy individuals like Sambhaji Kale (net worth ₹1.5 crore) and Laxmi Das (net worth ₹1 crore). Yet, Bharat Jain’s story is perhaps the most extraordinary—showcasing how one man turned a seemingly grim profession into a surprising path to success.
