District Authorities Order Mandatory Formation of Internal Complaints Committee in all Government and Private Organizations to Prevent Workplace Harassment of Women
The District Women and Child Development Office has issued a directive mandating the establishment of Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs) in all government and private establishments with ten or more employees. This measure aims to prevent sexual harassment of women at the workplace, investigate complaints, and ensure appropriate action against offenders.
As per the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013, it is obligatory for all government offices, local authorities, private entities, institutions, organizations, companies, factories, hospitals, schools, colleges, hotels, shops, banks, and other establishments with ten or more employees to constitute an Internal Complaints Committee. The Supreme Court has also issued directives regarding the mandatory formation of such committees. Non-compliance with this requirement may result in a penalty of up to ₹50,000.
All government and private offices are required to establish the Internal Complaints Committee and submit the Annual Report for the year 2024 to the District Women and Child Development Office at the address: 29/2, Gulmarg Park Cooperative Housing Society, Third Floor, Near Jadhav Bakers, Somwar Peth, Pune – 411011, or via email at lcpune2021@gmail.com by January 22, 2025. Additionally, monthly and quarterly reports must be submitted regularly.
