Entry of heavy vehicles banned on Mumbai-Goa highway during Ganeshotsav
Mumbai, August 24, 2024: The government of Maharashtra has announced a ban on the entry of heavy vehicles on Mumbai-Goa highway during Ganeshotsav to facilitate smoother travel for people wanting to visit their hometowns in Konkan, during the festive season.
Ravindra Chavan, Minister, PWD, Government of Maharashtra announced the decision, saying, “keeping in mind that a lot of people from Konkan region stay in Mumbai for work and many of them visit their hometowns during Ganeshotsav, the government of Maharashtra has decided to ban the entry of heavy vehicles on the Mumbai-Goa highway during the festival.”
This is to ensure that road travel from Mumbai to Konkan and back during festive season becomes easier and accessible.
Details of the heavy vehicle ban on Mumbai-Goa Highway:
- Complete entry ban for heavy vehicles from 5th September midnight to 8th September midnight
- Heavy vehicle entry banned from 8pm 11th September to 11am 13th September, to facilitate 5th and 7th day Ganpati Visarjan, Gauri Ganapati Visarjan and return travel.
