This is not an isolated incident of valuables being stolen from the flyers’ checked in bags at various airports. It has been reported many times that the luggage bags were damaged and torn to take out the valuables from the bags.
An airport official said the responsibility for the safety of checked in baggage lies with the concerned airline and the airport operations have nothing to do with that.
Learning from this incident and many such incidences in the past, it is advisable to keep valuables with oneself in the hand baggage at all times during a flight, at least that’s what the airlines say.
