IMD sees no rains for Pune, Mumbai as of now, however many districts on yellow alert for thunderstorms
Rains have taken a break in many districts of Maharashtra and weather scientists attribute this to the absence of any significant weather system in the state.
Many districts are forecasted to witness light or no rain in the next 3-4 days, while other districts will witness moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightening.
District Wise Weather Forecast for Maharashtra
Light to moderate Rain (Green alert) – Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahmednagar, and Pune.
Thunderstorm, Lightening, Gusty Winds with Moderate Rain (Yellow alert) – All other districts not listed above are expected to have a stormy weather with moderate rain in the next 3-4 days.
Anupam Kashyapi, former head of weather forecasting division, IMD Pune says, thunderstorm and lightening expected in Vidarbha and South Marathwada, rest of the state will witness only light, occasional spells of rain.
Increased Heat in Mumbai and Pune
Due to the extended break in rains, residents of Pune are experiencing increased heat with maximum temperature to reach 30-32 degrees Celsius during the next few days, while the minimum temperature will be around 22-24 degrees Celsius. The skies will be generally cloudy with changes of spells of light rain.
Mumbai will also experience similar weather conditions with temperatures in the range of 26-27 degree Celsius minimum to 30-32 degrees Celsius maximum with the forecast of generally cloudy skies with light rain.
Recorded Temperatures in Maharashtra
During the last 24 hours, Mahabaleshwar recorded the minimum temperature in the state at 18 degrees Celsius and Chandrapur recorded the highest at 35.4 degrees Celsius.
