In a significant move aimed at enhancing the travel experience for railway passengers, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has joined hands with Swiggy, India’s leading online food delivery platform. As IRCTC partners with Swiggy, it marks a pivotal step in providing convenient and diverse dining options to train passengers, ensuring a delightful journey across various destinations.

A Delicious Journey Awaits with IRCTC and Swiggy

IRCTC’s innovative approach to catering on the move has taken a giant leap forward with this collaboration. Passengers can now easily pre-order meals from a wide array of restaurants via the official e-catering portal of IRCTC. With over 2,000 restaurants to choose from, travelers are guaranteed a delicious meal to complement their journey. As shared by IRCTC’s ECatering on X, the initiative is aimed at ensuring passengers enjoy a ‘delicious journey’ by making a diverse range of food options accessible right at their seat.

Initial Rollout and Future Expansion

The initial phase of this collaboration will see Swiggy providing food delivery services at four key railway stations: Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam. This development was disclosed in a stock exchange filing by IRCTC, highlighting the partnership with Bundl Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (operating under Swiggy Foods) for the supply and delivery of pre-ordered meals. This pilot phase is a testament to both organizations’ commitment to leveraging technology for enhancing passenger convenience.

Seamless Ordering Process

IRCTC has streamlined the food ordering process to ensure ease and convenience for passengers. By entering their PNR number on the eCatering portal, passengers can select from a variety of food outlets, schedule their orders, and opt for online payment or cash on delivery. The order will be delivered directly to the passenger’s seat at the scheduled station, making it a hassle-free experience. Moreover, for groups of 15 or more passengers, there is an option to place bulk orders at custom prices, further enhancing the convenience factor.

Building on a Legacy of Partnerships

The partnership between IRCTC and Swiggy is not the first of its kind for the catering giant. In October 2023, IRCTC announced a similar collaboration with Zomato, aimed at enriching the food delivery service at railway stations across New Delhi, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Varanasi. These partnerships are part of IRCTC’s broader strategy to expand its service offerings and improve the travel experience for millions of train passengers across India.

Conclusion

As IRCTC partners with Swiggy, it is a significant milestone in enhancing the train travel experience in India. By providing a convenient, reliable, and diverse dining option, both organizations are set to redefine the standards of travel catering. As this partnership unfolds, passengers can look forward to a more enjoyable and flavorful journey, underlining the commitment of IRCTC and Swiggy to customer satisfaction and service excellence.
