Kolhapur, Maharashtra – In a story that seems almost miraculous, 65-year-old Pandurang Ulpe, a resident of Kasaba-Bawada in Kolhapur, returned home alive weeks after being declared dead by doctors. A chance encounter with a speed breaker during his final journey proved to be a life-saver.

Heart Attack and Grim News

On December 16, Pandurang Ulpe, a devotee of Lord Vitthal and a warkari, suffered a severe heart attack at his home. He had just returned from a walk and felt dizzy and breathless. After vomiting in the bathroom, he lost consciousness. Ulpe was rushed to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The Ambulance Miracle

As per tradition, Ulpe’s “body” was being transported from the hospital to his home for last rites. Family members, neighbors, and relatives had gathered to mourn. However, during the ambulance journey, an unexpected jolt from a speed breaker brought attention to something unusual.

“When we were bringing his ‘body’ home, the ambulance passed over a speed breaker, and we noticed movement in his fingers,” said his wife. This astonishing observation led to the decision to take Ulpe back to another hospital immediately.

Road to Recovery

At the second hospital, Ulpe was treated for his heart condition and underwent an angioplasty. He remained in medical care for two weeks, recovering steadily. Finally, on December 30, he walked back home—a moment of joy and disbelief for his family and the community.

A Second Chance at Life

Reflecting on the incident, Ulpe said, “I don’t remember much about what happened after I collapsed. I had no idea I was declared dead. This feels like a second lease on life.”

The private hospital that initially declared him dead has not issued any statement regarding the incident.

This extraordinary turn of events has left the town of Kolhapur amazed, with many calling it a divine intervention.
