The Election Commission of India has declared the following dates as dry days in Mumbai and other cities in view of the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024:

November 18, 2024: Sale of liquor will be prohibited after 6 pm.

November 19, 2024: The entire day before voting day will be a dry day.

November 20, 2024: On the day of polling, sale of liquor will be prohibited till 6 pm.

November 23, 2024: On the day of declaration of election results, sale of liquor will be prohibited till the declaration of results.

These measures are aimed at encouraging citizens to participate responsibly in the election process.

Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024: Holiday on Polling Day

To ensure high voting participation, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared November 20, 2024, as a holiday for all employees working in the Mumbai area. This holiday will be applicable for employees working in businesses and offices located in Mumbai. The initiative aims to ensure that people can participate in voting without worrying about their jobs.

No punishment for absenteeism: Employees can take leave on polling day without any pay cuts or other penalties.
Strict action: If employers do not follow this order, strict action will be taken against them. BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani has warned of strict action against employers violating this order.
