Maharashtra Weather News: Pune Records Highest Temperature, But Cold to Return Statewide as Northerly Winds Arrive
As the impact of a Western Disturbance subsides, Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant drop in night temperatures, particularly in central and western parts of the state. Anupam Kashyapi, former head of the Weather Forecasting Division, IMD Pune, has advised residents to prepare for cold nights, with single-digit temperatures likely in isolated areas, including Pune.
Key Weather Highlights:
- Reduction in Cloud Cover:
The cloudy conditions over central and western India, including Maharashtra, are expected to dissipate from Monday. This clearing will pave the way for the entry of cold northerly winds from the Western Himalayan Region. - Temperature Forecast:
- Pune: Daytime highs around 33°C; nighttime lows could drop to 14°C initially and possibly single digits.
- Mumbai: Temperatures to range between 16°C and 32°C.
- Other regions in Maharashtra, except Mumbai and Konkan, may see morning lows between 10°C and 12°C.
- Cold Wave Warning:
A gradual dip in temperatures is expected from December 8th night onward, with isolated regions likely experiencing sharp declines. Pune, in particular, is on high alert for a single-digit minimum temperature.
Pune Records State’s Highest Temperature
Despite the upcoming cold wave, Pune recorded the highest daytime temperature in Maharashtra at 33.7°C. In contrast, Nashik recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 16.6°C, illustrating the temperature variations across the state.
Calm and Dry Weather Expected
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) Mumbai, the weather across Maharashtra is expected to remain calm and dry for the coming week. This respite from cloud cover and precipitation marks a shift toward colder conditions.
