  • Palghar/Thane – August 03
  • Raigad – August 02-04
  • Ratnagiri/Sindhudurg – August 01-03
  • Nashik – August 03
  • Pune – August 01-03
  • Kolhapur – August 01-02
  • Satara – August 03

The rest of the districts in Maharashtra that are on yellow and green alerts will experience light to moderate rains during August 01-03.

The recent spell of heavy rain last week led to flash floods in Pune, Kolhapur, and Sangli, with dams releasing water after reaching near full capacity, causing flooding in rivers and affecting local livelihoods. Currently, Pavana dam is 91 percent full, and water release from Amalpatti Dam is expected to increase. If the heavy rain continues, water may also be released from the Khadakwasla dam.

According to Anupam Kashyapi, former IMD head of Pune, Pune’s weather will remain overcast with intermittent moderate to intense rain spells, leading to poor visibility and overall moderate rainfall. The Ghats of Pune district are under a red alert, expecting heavy to very heavy rain with isolated extreme heavy rain. Residents and travelers are advised to avoid visiting the ghats and stay safe.
