Mahindra has finally broken the suspense and launched its subcompact SUV after building speculation for quite some time.

Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the XUV 3XO for a starting price of Rs 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The XUV 3XO is available in a total of 18 variants, and the top-end model, which is the AX7 L variant, is priced at Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom). This latest compact SUV from Mahindra serves as a replacement for the XUV300, and comes with multiple updates in terms of features. It also has a different design appeal from the XUV300, and this time around, there’s a new petrol automatic variant, as well.

In terms of powertrain and gearbox options, the entry and mid-level variants come with a 1.2-litre, turbo-petrol motor that produces 109bhp, with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter transmission. Then there’s the 1.5-litre diesel option, which churns out 115bhp, and can be configured with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed AMT gearbox (additional Rs 80,000 more than manual counterpart). The most powerful option on the 3XO is the 129bhp, 1.2-litre, turbo-petrol motor, which is available with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

In terms of design, Mahindra has given 3XO quite a significant change. Up front, there’s a redesigned bumper, new LED DRLs and housing for the LED headlamps. At the back, there’s a distinctive connected LED light bar and C-shaped tail lamps. Also, the number plate now sits on the rear bumper rather than the tail light. Apart from this, the Mahindra 3XO also comes with a new set of alloy wheels, which will be on the higher variants.

On the inside, the 3XO bears some similarities to the Mahindra XUV400 EV’s cabin. Mahindra had already revealed earlier that the 3XO will get creature comforts like panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, a 10.25-inch screen for the infotainment system as well as the driver display. Another big addition is Level 2 ADAS, which is said to be borrowed from the Mahindra XUV700, but is only available in higher variants. This is a segment first since the Venue and Sonet only come Level 1 ADAS.

Standard safety equipment includes six airbags, ISOFIX mounts, rear disc brakes and Electronic Stability Program (ESP), which is said to be the same as the XUV700. There are a total of seven exterior colours to choose from, and some variants can also be equipped with dual-tone paint. These include Everest White, Stealth Black, Deep Forest, Nebula Blue, Dune Dust and Citrine Yellow.
