MG Windsor EV to be launched on September 11 in India, check price, features and rivals
JSW MG Motor India is expected to launch its latest electric vehicle, the MG Windsor EV, in the Indian market on September 11, 2024. It is likely to be positioned between the Comet EV and the ZS EV in the company’s electric car portfolio. The Windsor EV promises to be a strategic addition to MG’s growing portfolio of electric vehicles. This model, known as the Cloud EV in markets like Indonesia, has been renamed for its Indian debut.
MG Windsor EV: Price and Positioning
The MG Windsor EV is expected to be priced under Rs 20 lakh, making it an attractive option for buyers looking for a premium electric vehicle without denting the budget. With this pricing strategy, the Windsor EV will be positioned right below the ZS EV in MG’s portfolio. It is expected to compete with established models such as the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400, and the newly launched Tata Curvv EV.
Battery Options and Range
The MG Windsor EV is likely to be offered with two battery pack options, similar to its international variant, the Wuling Cloud EV:
- 37.9 kWh battery: Claimed range of 360 km.
- 50.6 kWh battery: Claimed range of 460 km.
Both variants are powered by a front-axle-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 134 hp. While the exact specifications for the Indian market have not yet been confirmed, these options provide a glimpse of what to expect in terms of performance and range.
Design and Features
The MG Windsor EV is designed as a crossover, combining elements of a large hatchback and an MPV. Measuring approximately 4.3 meters in length with a 2,700mm wheelbase, the Windsor EV offers a spacious interior despite its compact exterior dimensions.
