The announcement was made during an election rally in Thane. The service will provide a faster and eco-friendly alternative to traditional road travel, which will also reduce Mumbai’s infamous traffic problem and pollution. The water taxi service will use Mumbai’s vast sea routes, allowing passengers to travel between the city and Navi Mumbai quickly and easily.
A jetty has already been prepared near the Navi Mumbai International Airport. This project can prove to be a major game changer in urban transport. The first phase is expected to start in March 2025, which will coincide with the inauguration of Navi Mumbai International Airport. The necessary infrastructure, such as jetty construction, has already been completed so that this service can be started on time.
