Navi Mumbai International Airport to be Operational in March 2025; Pune Airport’s New Terminal to Open July 14

In a recent visit to the Navi Mumbai International Airport site, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol confirmed that the airport is set to commence operations in March 2025. Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and Mohol reviewed the progress of the ongoing work, expressing optimism about the project’s timely completion.

Major Milestone for Connectivity

Mohol highlighted that the Navi Mumbai International Airport will significantly enhance connectivity with neighboring regions such as Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Kalyan, and western Maharashtra. “Going by the progress of the work, the airport will be operational in March next year. It will enhance connectivity with neighboring Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Kalyan, and western Maharashtra,” Mohol stated.

  • Initial Passenger Capacity: 2 crore passengers per annum

International Standards and Connectivity

The Navi Mumbai International Airport is poised to be a game changer for India’s aviation sector. Addressing concerns about compensation for project-affected persons (PAP), Mohol assured that the government is committed to resolving these issues through discussions with the management. “We are committed to ensuring that people who have contributed land for the airport project are not displaced,” the minister clarified, emphasizing the government’s awareness of project-related issues and compensations.

Mohol underscored Prime Minister Modi’s ongoing support for development initiatives in Maharashtra, highlighting the airport’s potential to boost the region’s development trajectory.

New Terminal at Pune Airport

In addition to the developments at Navi Mumbai International Airport, Mohol announced that the new terminal at Pune Airport will be operational on July 14 at 1 pm. The new terminal, eagerly awaited by Punekars, has the capacity to process 3,000 passengers per hour and handle 90 lakh passengers per annum.
