Now Make Calls, Surf the Web, and Stay Connected Mid-Air: Air India Launches Free In-Flight Wi-Fi on Domestic Routes
In a groundbreaking move for Indian aviation, Air India has become the first airline in the country to offer in-flight Wi-Fi services on domestic flights. Starting January 1, 2025, passengers on select Air India aircraft, including the A350, B787-9, and A321neo models, can now stay connected while soaring at 35,000 feet.
A Game-Changing Experience for Flyers
From browsing the internet and sharing updates on social media to conducting business activities and even making calls, Air India’s Wi-Fi service marks a revolutionary step forward in passenger convenience. In the initial phase, the service will be complimentary, allowing travelers to test its benefits without additional cost.
Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer of Air India, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Connectivity is now an integral part of modern travel. Whether it’s for real-time sharing, greater productivity, or just comfort, we’re confident that our guests will enjoy the option of staying connected onboard.”
Easy Access, Seamless Connectivity
Accessing the Wi-Fi is straightforward:
- Activate the Wi-Fi settings on your device.
- Select the ‘Air India Wi-Fi’ network.
- Enter your PNR and surname on the Air India portal.
- Begin enjoying complimentary internet.
The service supports multiple devices, including laptops, tablets, and smartphones with iOS or Android systems. However, connectivity is subject to satellite coverage, bandwidth availability, and government regulations.
A Milestone for Indian Aviation
Following successful trials on international routes to New York, London, Paris, and Singapore, Air India’s initiative positions it as a pioneer in modernizing domestic travel. The rollout underscores the airline’s commitment to enhancing passenger experience, reflecting its broader vision under the Tata Group’s ownership.
As the complimentary service gradually expands to more aircraft, Air India is setting a new benchmark for Indian airlines, ensuring that travelers no longer have to disconnect while in transit.
