On May 13, polling was held for 96 parliamentary constituencies across 10 states and union territories during the phase-IV of Lok Sabha Elections 2024. With the fourth phase completed, fate of 379 seats has been sealed across 23 States/UTs.

Highlights of Phase-IV Polling

  • Polling was held for 96 seats across 10 states/UTs
  • ECI declared 67.25 percent voter turnout across the country
  • Kashmir recorded 37.98 percent voter turnout, highest in many decades
  • Highest voter turnout recorded in West Bengal at 78.37 percent
  • Lowest voter turnout recorded in Jammu and Kashmir at 37.98 percent
  • A total of 1717 candidates were in the electoral fray in this phase
  • Polling was also done for State Legislative Assemblies of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. 
  • In an unfortunate incident, a polling official in Champapet, Telangana passed away while on duty
  • The next phase (phase 5) polling is scheduled on May 20, 2024 in 49 PCs in 8 States/UTs

Pune Voter Turnout

Until 5 pm, the voter turnout as reported by ECI across three parliamentary constituencies in Pune was as follows:

  • Maval – 46.03
  • Pune – 44.90
  • Shirur – 43.89

There may be a little increment in these figures as polling continued well beyond 6 pm in many polling stations and the final seat-wise voter turnout figures are still awaited.

In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the fourth Phase of voting for General Elections to 18th Lok Sabha concluded peacefully with a 37.98% voting in the districts of Srinagar, Ganderbal, Pulwama, and Budgam & Shopian Districts partly. Polling took place in 2,135 polling stations across the Srinagar Parliamentary constituency with live webcasting at all the polling stations. Voting started at 7 a.m. across the PC with long queues of enthusiastic voters waiting to cast their votes.

Polling time in certain assembly segments of 17 Parliamentary Constituencies of Telangana was increased by the Commission (from 7 am till 6 pm) to increase voters’ participation.

In an unfortunate incident, a polling official in Champapet, Telangana passed away while on duty. Taking swift cognizance of the tragic demise, the Commission has directed CEO Telangana for immediate disbursal of ex-gratia payment to the family of the deceased polling officer.
