PMRDA and PCMC Police conducted a joint operation on Thursday morning and demolished 10 bars and restaurants located in Hinjawadi.

PMRDA on Thursday began a special drive against illegal pubs, hotels, bars and rooftop restaurants operating under its limits. A team of the anti-encroachment department demolished illegal structures of 10 such establishments in the Hinjawadi area in a day while conducting joint action with the Pimpri Chinchwad police.

Around 97,815 square feet of unauthorized construction was demolished in the operation.

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) had earlier started a survey to zero in on these establishments, following the May 19 Porsche Taycan crash in Kalyani Nagar.

Anil Daunde, joint commissioner and head of the anti-encroachment department of PMRDA, told TOI, “Ten establishments operating illegally in Hinjewadi, including two rooftop restaurants, were razed as the owners did not have a nod for construction from our building permission department.”

All these establishments were located in the Hinjewadi gram panchayat limits under the PMRDA jurisdiction. Such operations will be continued in other areas as well and the officials of the PMRDA’s Anti-Unauthorized Construction Department present at the location have requested people to not carry out such constructions.

PMRDA officials have also surveyed establishments around Maan village and notices have been sent to errant owners before initiating action against illegal structures. A senior PMRDA official said survey teams are coordinating with the building permission department closely to verify if properties are erected without permission before initiating action.
