Pune: 5.53% voting in district till 9 am, know about district’s unique polling stations including one on highest elevation

Pune, November 20, 2024: Polling staff displayed unparalleled dedication at Raireshwar Fort, the highest polling station in Pune district. To reach this unique polling station, the staff climbed iron stairs from the foot of the fort and walked for two hours carrying the polling material in their heads.

This polling station, number 523, is part of the 203 Bhor Assembly constituency and has 160 voters who will exercise their franchise during the ongoing Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024. The team comprises key members like Central President Ashok Bhujbal, Kanhaiyabai Omdas, Sunil Jadhav, Kshitija More and Gopal Jangam. In comparison, the nearby Burudmal polling station has only 42 voters.

Dr. Vikas Kharat, the Election Returning Officer for Bhor Constituency, highlighted various specialized polling stations in the area:

  • Chhatrapati Shivaji Vidyalaya, Bhor town: Pink polling station with all-female staff.
  • Bholavade: Disability-friendly polling station with all disabled staff.
  • Blue Rider Public School, Hinjewadi: Youth-staffed polling station.
  • Zilla Parishad Primary School, Bawdhan Budruk: Model polling station.

Meanwhile, the District Collector’s office reported 5.53% voting turnout during the first two hours of voting till 9 am in Pune district.

The district administration appeals to all citizens to come out in large numbers to exercise the voting right and contribute to the process of formation of a just and democratically elected government.
