A heartbreaking accident on the bustling Hinjawadi-Maan Road has claimed the lives of two young women. The incident occurred at approximately 4 PM on Friday when a concrete mixer truck overturned during a sharp turn and crushed the scooter the women were riding.

The victims, identified as 21-year-olds Pranjali Yadav and Ashlesha Gawande, were both private-sector employees returning home from work. They were riding a Suzuki Access scooter, which was completely crushed under the weight of the toppled truck. Tragically, both women died instantly.

Investigation Underway

The driver of the mixer truck, a 22-year-old man from Latur, has been arrested by the Hinjawadi Police. Preliminary findings suggest that the truck’s balance was compromised during the turn, leading to the fatal accident. Authorities are investigating whether negligence or mechanical failure played a role in the mishap.

The accident caused significant traffic congestion in the area, which was eventually cleared after a crane was deployed to remove the overturned truck. The truck driver sustained minor injuries and is reported to be in stable condition.

Police Officials Respond Swiftly

Senior officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Vishal Gaikwad, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Wakad Division) Sunil Kurade, and Senior Police Inspector Kanhaiya Thorat, arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. The Hinjawadi Police have registered a case based on a complaint from the victims’ families.
